BAROQUE FESTIVAL: BACH CONCERTOS
J. S. Bach, perhaps the most revered of all composers, crafted unparalleled examples in every genre he undertook, and his concerto-writing skills unequivocally demonstrate that fact. The internationally acclaimed pianist Shai Wosner is featured on piano and harpsichord throughout the program, and renowned violinists (and sisters) Ani Kavafian and Ida Kavafian join forces for Bach's double violin concerto. German oboist Juri Vallentin, selected as a current CMS Bowers Program artist, performs Bach's lesser-known oboe concerto.

BAROQUE FESTIVAL: BAROQUE ORGAN
CMS presents a rare opportunity to hear Alice Tully Hall’s lush and powerful 4,200-pipe organ on the instrument's 50th Anniversary; made in 1974 near Zurich by Orgelbau Kuhn, it was installed in 1975 as a gift from Miss Alice Tully herself. On this program, it serves as the centerpiece in music by eight Baroque masters -- all works that are new to CMS (except the Telemann Trio, which was performed once on this organ, in 1977). Organist Paolo Bordignon, harpsichordist of the New York Philharmonic and organist and choirmaster of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Park Avenue, performs organ solos (including a French holiday carol) and is joined by eight extraordinary artists to perform transcriptions by Bach himself and more.
