ART OF THE GUITAR:
Croatian Guitar Virtuosa Ana Vidovic Returns to 92Y
Critically-acclaimed guitarist Ana Vidovic returns to 92Y with an engaging program spanning genres and centuries. A first-prize winner of the Albert Augustine International Competition (England), the Fernando Sor competition (Italy) and the Francisco Tarrega competition (Spain), Ms. Vidovic’s recital includes music ranging from 18th-century Germany to 19th-century Italy, plus one of the Beatles’ most enduring songs arranged by Toru Takemitsu.
Ms. Vidovic’s international performance career has brought her to New York, London, Paris, Vienna, Salzburg, Rome, Budapest, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Oslo, Copenhagen, Toronto, Baltimore, San Francisco, Houston, Austin, Dallas, St. Louis and beyond. As The Washington Post observed, “Vidovic's playing is nuanced and intensely personal, both deeply felt and deeply thought.”

Sir András Schiff Selects: Young Pianists
Mishka Rushdie Momen Gives 92Y Debut
With the 2016/17 season marking its third installation, Sir András Schiff Selects: Young Pianists reflects both 92Y’s and Sir András’s dedication to championing the next generation of international performers by inviting promising young pianists, who have already garnered critical acclaim overseas, to make their 92Y debuts in programs of their choosing. This season, Sir András has selected three pianists to perform in this intimate series in 92Y’s Buttenwieser Hall.
London-born pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen opens the series on December 7 with a varied program of music by Mozart, Janáček, Schumann and Beethoven. A prizewinner at international piano competitions in Cologne, Dublin and Dudley (UK), among others, Ms. Momen’s program explores various forms within piano repertoire – sonatas from the 19th and 20th centuries, a Mozartean fantasy and Schumann’s last great work for the piano. Sir András remarked, “She played Mozart's A-minor sonata most beautifully, which is very rare indeed. She is a very original, intelligent and sensitive musician."

MASTERS OF THE KEYBOARD:
Peter Serkin
On December 10, 2016, Peter Serkin offers an exciting mix of composers in works that together provide a rich tapestry of works centuries apart. Though their names may be unfamiliar or new to some, Josquin, Sweelinck, Bull, Dowland and Byrd are all eminent and significant 16th-century composers. As Anthony Tommasini recently mentioned in the New York Times, Mr. Serkin has been in the vanguard of "inquisitive artists with a knack for juxtaposing old and new works on imaginative programs." We are privileged that this brilliant pianist brings his passionate love for all music to 92Y. Pianist Julia Hsu, originally scheduled to appear in a duo recital with Mr. Serkin, is regretfully unable to perform.
