"This is music that paints images in your mind, that fires the imagination... Dreamers’ Circus celebrate more than the colour and vibrancy of Scandinavian music, they celebrate the ability it has to drive inspiration and innovation, and place themselves firmly in the vanguard of that movement." – Folk Radio
The Danish/Swedish roots trio Dreamers’ Circus stands at the forefront of Nordic folk music. Since coming together in 2009, Nikolaj Busk (piano and accordion), Ale Carr (Nordic cittern), and Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (violin, also of the Danish String Quartet) have shared their innovative blend of contemporary and traditional folk with thousands throughout Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States.
On May 29, the group celebrates its 10th anniversary with the release of its fourth full-length album, Blue White Gold (Vertical), a genre-defying exploration of folk, classical, jazz, and contemporary styles.
The musicians reflect:
Since we started playing together we’ve travelled widely with our music and it is sometimes when you travel farthest that you come to realise how much you value wherever it is that you call home. While travel opens up new vistas and ideas it also encourages reflection on where you come from. So here while we continue opening new ground in our music we also give a nod to the familiar by including some traditional Nordic tunes, the music we are rooted in and the music that brought us together to being this journey some ten years ago.
