Metropolitan Opera star mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano comes off a breakthrough season of premieres and debuts in 2021-22. Opera News called her a “matchless interpreter of contemporary opera,” in their review of The Hours with the Philadelphia Orchestra; about Castor & Patience at The Cincinnati Opera, The New York Times wrote, “Singing with mellow power, the mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano brought humanity and nuance to Castor’s wife, Celeste.” This season, she continues to perform a mix of orchestral, opera and chamber music concerts, making her debut with Atlanta Opera in Don Giovanni and playing the role of Meg Page in The Met’s Falstaff.
