Marcelo Lehninger Joins Kirshbaum Associates

We are thrilled to announce the addition of Brazilian-born conductor Marcelo Lehninger to the Kirshbaum Associates roster for worldwide representation.

Recently appointed Artistic Director of the Bellingham Festival of Music, Lehninger has served as Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony since 2016, a post he will hold until 2030. In 2018, he brought the Grand Rapids Symphony to Carnegie Hall, which was the orchestra's first performance at the famed venue in 13 years.

Lehninger previously served as Music Director of the New West Symphony in Los Angeles, where he received the Helen H. Thompson Award for Emerging Music Directors from the League of American Orchestras. He served for five years as Assistant and then Associate Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Chosen by Kurt Masur in 2008, Lehninger was awarded the First Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Scholarship sponsored by the American Friends of the Mendelssohn Foundation. He then served as Masur’s assistant with the Orchestre National de France during their residency at the Musikverein in Vienna.

Lehninger has led major orchestras all over the world, including the Chicago, Boston, Toronto, and Sydney Symphonies, among many others.
