The Takács Quartet, widely regarded as one of world’s greatest quartets, celebrate their 50th Season in 2024-2025. The Quartet are critically acclaimed around the world for their virtuosic performances, ingenious programming and unsurpassed recordings. This season, they perform more than 40 concerts in North America along with tours in Europe, Asia and Australia. The ensemble consists of violinists Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes, violist Richard O’Neill and cellist András Fejér.
Nokuthula Ngwenyama's Flow out on Hyperion November 15

Exemplifying the Takács's spirit of innovation is Flow, the work by violist and composer Nokuthula Ngwenyama, premiered last season by the Quartet to enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim. Flow was featured on NPR's "Morning Edition" in January 2024. Hyperion is planning to release a new recording of Flow on November 15, giving listeners around the globe the opportunity to hear this extraordinary new work.
In April, the Takács releases another recording on Hyperion -- quintets by Antonín Dvořák and Florence Price with pianist Marc-André Hamelin. The Quartet’s most recent release for Hyperion, of Schubert’s D112 and D887 quartets, was the subject of an in-depth feature in Strings magazine and was named Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice for July 2024.
The Quartet's Hyperion recordings are now also available for streaming.

Violinist Edward Dusinberre offered the following thoughts about this season's repertoire: "What unites the string quartets we have chosen for our fiftieth anniversary is a sense of daring and innovation. All of these pieces demonstrate the spark that ignites when the demands of individual expression on the one hand, and the goal of a unified interpretation on the other, are engaged with each other. Above all it is this creative tension that makes quartet work so rewarding - in our fiftieth year, we have chosen music that vividly realizes this precarious yet magical equilibrium."
